About Rich

Rich Hays is a native of Kensington & Bethesda, Maryland.  He studied Business at the University of Maryland and then eventually went on to a 2 year program for Film Production at the London International Film School in London, England. After years working in marketing and a stint working in Miami and abroad in the Film Industry, Rich  eventually settled in Wilmington, NC after falling in love with the area during a family vacation. His entrepreneurial spirit and diverse sales and marketing background ultimately inspired him to persue an untapped market in NC with a new and unique mode of transportation called a Segway.  In 2006, he opened "Cape Fear Segway", which was the first Segway dealership and tour operation in NC.  "It was a much more realistic venture than ever becoming the next Spielberg..."

Rich has operated Segway tours of historic downtown Wilmington for the past 14 years and consistently voted the #1 tour in Wilmington according TripAdvisor.com. The success of his business is in part a reflection of his warm and friendly personality, extensive knowledge of the area and outstanding communication skills.

While running his Segway business, Rich also earned his Real Estate license in 2006 and worked p/t with a small boutique firm specializing in investment properties. Over the years, Real Estate has taken on a whole new level of passion for Rich as he has transitioned to full time as a REALTOR®/Broker with Intracoastal Realty, continuing his award-winning customer service to his Real Estate clients that he was known for in the Wilmington tour industry.

"Each client has a unique set of goals and circumstances and each gets my full focus and attention as their happines and success in their Real Estate transaction are also mine."

Rich spends his spare time enjoying the beach, cruising his classic car or (working on it), vacationing in the mountains, or simply relaxing with a good Scotch or Craft beer with his wife and friends
